This side-address mic has a tough all-metal construction that not only increases durability but also helps to resist RF interference from sources like wireless systems. It includes a metal carrying box for protection during transit as well as a spider-type shock mount to isolate the microphone from vibration noise.

True-Condenser Capsule

The P220's genuine condenser capsule has a 1" gold-sputtered diaphragm calibrated to provide a detailed sound with minor high- and low-frequency peaks. Additionally, it can handle SPLs of up to 155 dB (with the -20 pad on) without noticeable distortion, so it will have no trouble competing with guitar amps and drums. To reduce rumbling, wind noise, and even bass building from close-up miking, a low-cut filter set at 300 Hz can be activated. Because the cardioid polar pattern of the microphone is most sensitive to sound coming from in front of it, it reduces stage bleed and background noise. To connect the P220 to an XLR mic input that can deliver 48V phantom power, use an XLR cable that is separately available.
