The Sony PXW-Z90 4K HDR XDCAM camcorder has phase-detection autofocus (AF) and HDR in a small, palm-sized body. The PXW-Z90 camcorder is ideal for corporate events, broadcast news, and television production. It has a stacked 1" Exmor RS CMOS sensor with UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) resolution, a 12x Zeiss optical zoom, an OLED viewfinder, and a 3.5" touchscreen LCD monitor. It can record 4K in XAVC Long at 4:2:0, HD in XAVC Long at 4:2:2 10-bit, and MPEG HD at 4:2:2 (with an optional licensing key). S-Log3/S-Gamut3 capabilities provide customers more picture control. Built-in 2.4/5 GHz enables multiple streaming via RTMP/RTMPS protocols and FTP choices. The PXW-Z90 camera supports Sony's Slow and Quick Motion, which allows you to record HD video at a variety of frame rates, including 120 fps. The camcorder can record to a number of formats, frame rates, and codecs, including 100 Mb/s XAVC Long for 4K UHD video at up to 29.97p and 50 Mb/s for HD up to 59.94p. Footage is recorded on two SD memory card slots, either concurrently or in relay mode to make a backup. The PXW-Z90's 3G-SDI output enables integration with professional studio setups.
The camera supports the RTMP and RTMPS live streaming protocols. This is included with the camera and available as a free upgrade if your camera does not already have this feature. You may stream straight from the camera via Wi-Fi or Ethernet with extra converters like the Sony VMC-UAM2 or CBK-NA1. Streaming does not require a computer.
The camera is compatible with Sony's XDCAM air, allowing you to upload proxy footage to the cloud and begin editing remotely. Sony's free Content Browser Mobile software allows you to manage the camera directly from your smartphone or tablet.
